ICE & ICE Sprinter

At present, there are five different types of the ICE in operation: the ICE 1, ICE 2, ICE 3, ICE T and ICE Sprinter. The ICE fleet currently consists of 265 trains. Starting from December 2017, more than 100 of the new ICE4 train will be added to the fleet by 2023.

Intercity and Eurocity trains: your direct connection between cities and regions.
The Intercity (IC) and Eurocity (EC) connect major cities with each other at speeds of up to 185 km/h. IC and EC trains normally run hourly or two-hourly. Intercity trains operate within Germany, on Eurocity trains you can also travel to neighbouring European countries.

The new Intercity (IC 2)

The new generation of Intercity trains has a lot to over on two deck! The IC 2 is double-decker train designed for comfort. It takes you to (almost) any place every two hours.

Regional trains

Discover Germany on regional trains.
The Interregio-Express (IRE) connects regions with each other and stops at selected stations. The Regional-Express (RE), regional trains (RB) and S-Bahn trains take you anywhere from romantic little villages to buzzing cities.
